Aliens: Fireteam is a new co-op shooter based on the iconic sci-fi franchise

March 2, 2021 by CBW Reporter

The Alien series is getting a new video game installment with Aliens: Fireteam. The co-op shooter follows a group of Colonial Marines tasked with hunting down alien colonies.

The new game is a third-person shooter in the vein of Left 4 Dead, where three players squad up and blast through waves of enemies. Its set after the events of Aliens 3 in a world where alien outbreaks are well-known by the public and teams are sent out to deal with the threat. The game features a variety of creatures from the series including 11 different Xenomorph varieties.

Players can choose from five different character classes, each of which comes with their own specific abilities. For example, a technician is able to set up a turret that can fire at enemies. Weapons include a mix of standard-issue guns and more creative tools like a sticky grenade.

Replay value is a key component in the game. It features a normal story campaign full of missions, but players can also replay missions with additional challenges activated. The game features unlockable cosmetics and additional gear obtained through the game.

Aliens: Fireteam is developed by Cold Iron Studios, which was founded by the creators behind MMOs like Star Trek Online. The studio was acquired by Daybreak Games last summer. The studio has been bought and sold several times over the past few years as it has worked on the game.

The game is scheduled for a summer 2021 launch and will come to PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
