Apple Inc.‘s mostly successful patent office challenge of a Uniloc 2017 LLC patent on making phone calls over the internet was affirmed by the Federal Circuit.
The Patent Trial and Appeal Board had invalidated most of Uniloc’s U.S. Patent No. 8,539,552 on a system for policing the use of voice over internet protocol features such as caller-ID, call waiting, and multi-line service. But it found Apple didn’t prove other parts of the patent were invalid as obvious.
